Suicide |
A suicide suspension is a vertical suspension with hooks in the upper back. The number of hooks used can range from 1-8. The normal number of hooks for beginners is 4 or 6. This, or a superman, is recommended for first timers. Hooks may also be put into the arms to make it into a crucifixion suspension.

| Superman |
A superman suspension is done with hooks along the back and legs. 10 or 12 hooks are normally used, though more is possible. This is a good suspension for beginners as the body weight is spread evenly.

| Coma |
A coma suspension is done with hooks along the front of the body and legs. 10-12 hooks are normally used, though using more hooks is possible. The suspension spreads the body weight evenly, but is generally not recommended for first timers as the hooks along the abdomen can be quite uncomfortable.

| Chest |
A vertical chest suspensions (sometimes called O-kee-pa) is done with 2-6 hooks at the top of the chest. It is probably the most painful and intense suspension, and people often find it restricts breathing slightly. Not recommended for beginners.

| Knee |
A knee suspension is done with 2-6 hooks, placed above/to the side of the kneecap. While it looks pretty painful, most people find it surprisingly comfortable once they become used to being upside down.

| Lotus |
|
A lotus suspension is a suspension done in the lotus position. There are many hook placements that can be used, though 2-6 hooks in the back, and 2 hooks in each leg is probably the most common. The suspension is similar to a suicide suspension, but eases the pressure on the lower back by supporting the legs.

Other types of suspension are also possible, hooks can be placed pretty much anywhere on the body, although the skin on some areas is weaker than others, and some suspension positions may be uncomfortable. If you're interested in doing a non-standard suspension, ask your suspension team for advice, or post in our forums.
